Speed Bump Petition — We Need Your Signatures!

Safety is a priority for all Royalwood residents, particularly those with children and seniors in our community. Over the past few months, we’ve received numerous concerns about traffic speeds on several residential streets, notably along the corridors connecting Royalwood to major nearby routes.

The Problem

Residents have reported that some drivers treat our quiet residential streets as shortcuts, often exceeding posted speed limits. This creates a safety hazard for:

  • Children walking to and from school
  • Families enjoying our parks and pathways
  • Seniors crossing streets
  • Cyclists and pedestrians of all ages

Data from our informal community survey (conducted in late 2025) shows that over 75% of respondents are concerned about vehicle speeds on at least one street in Royalwood.

The Solution

The RNA Board is launching a formal petition to the City of Winnipeg requesting traffic calming measures in Royalwood. Our primary ask is the installation of speed bumps on high-traffic residential streets, particularly those near schools and parks. We’re also requesting additional traffic signage and enhanced pedestrian crossing infrastructure where needed.

The City of Winnipeg has successfully implemented traffic calming measures in other neighbourhoods, and we believe Royalwood deserves the same consideration.
