New Playground Equipment Coming to Royalwood Park
Excellent news, Royalwood families! After months of advocacy and community engagement, the City of Winnipeg has approved funding for significant upgrades to the playground equipment at Royalwood Park. This is a win for our entire neighbourhood, especially for families with young children.
What’s Included in the Upgrade
The new equipment will include:
- Accessible play structures designed to accommodate children of all abilities
- Updated climbing equipment with modern safety standards
- Swings and seesaws for younger children
- Shade structures to provide relief during hot summer days
- Improved ground surfaces with enhanced safety padding
All equipment will meet current Canadian playground safety standards and will be designed with inclusive play in mind, ensuring children of all developmental levels can participate together.
How We Got Here
This funding approval was made possible through a coordinated effort by the RNA Board and community members like you. Over the past year, we submitted detailed proposals to the City, gathered signatures from residents showing community support, and attended multiple city council meetings to advocate for our park.
The City recognized that Royalwood Park is a vital gathering space for our neighbourhood and that modernizing the equipment would benefit the entire community. We’re grateful to the city councillor’s office for championing this project and to all residents who made their voices heard.
Timeline and Next Steps
Installation is expected to begin in May 2026, with completion targeted for June. During this time, the playground area will be temporarily closed for safety reasons. The RNA will provide updates as the project progresses.
Once the work is complete, we plan to host a community celebration to officially unveil the new equipment. Keep an eye on our website and social media for details!
